The first of a two-course core sequence, this course introduces the study of politics and government and examines the basic ideological, structural, and procedural choices faced by any political system. Special emphasis is given to an understanding of the foundations and traditions of American democracy and the structures, decision processes, and policy outputs of the American political system.
