Will explore current human motivation theories and research, focusing on the social, cognitive, and emotional processes that initiate, energize, and direct behavior. Topics will include: the structure and function of goals, examining reasons for engaging in activities, and the application of theories and research findings to various life domains. Prerequisite(s): A PSY 101, 210, 211, and 270. This course will explore theory and research on human motivation, focusing on the social, cognitive, biological and emotional processes that initiate, energize, and direct behavior. My goal is for you to understand the major theoretical perspectives on human motivation (i.e., the cognitive, biological, and social basis of motivation) and be able to apply this knowledge to different contexts, including work, school, and social settings.
