Examines foundations of schooling in the US with a focus on theoretical and historical approaches toward educational equity for diverse communities. Supports teacher candidates in developing culturally responsive teacher dispositions. Introduces sociolinguistic principles of effective pedagogies for English learners. May include up to 10 hours of fieldwork.

Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or Senior standing, or admitted to Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist Program; Certificate of Clearance; and negative TB test.
