Lecture—3 hours. Prerequisite: satisfaction of the Mathematics Placement Requirement. Introduction to fundamental mathematical ideas selected from the principal areas of modern mathematics. Properties of the primes, the fundamental theorems of arithmetic, properties of the rationals and irrationals, binary and other number systems.
