This course presents the curricular content, the skills to be developed and the methodology that every future math teacher must master to teach the elementary level (K-6). The latest developments and approaches in Mathematics teaching are taken into consideration, including the use of manipulatives and assessment techniques. The course’s approach is based on the principle of constructive theory of knowledge. It incorporates classroom research and mathematical standards in teaching with quality indicators. Basic documents that guide teaching Mathematics in K-6 are analyzed. 3 hours a week, 1 semester, 3 credits.
