MATH-140 Mathematical Reasoning 3 Units: 54 hours of lecture, per term, SC, DG, CSU, UC Prerequisite: MATH 120 This course is designed to provide future elementary teachers with a solid foundation in mathematical reasoning. Students will learn to use and identify a wide variety of problem-solving strategies, gaining the ability to successfully solve unique problems. Students will also deepen their understanding of our place-value system by working with other historical and current number systems. Other topics include fractions, number theory, sets, logic, and probability. Although intended primarily for future elementary teachers, this course is open to all students. Not repeatable.
