An integrated survey of the cultural, social, political and economic development of the United States from 1492 to the present. The first semester (H221) covers the period from the Age of Exploration to the end of the Civil War; the second semester (H222) traces American development from Reconstruction to the present. In both courses emphasis will be on the evolution of a distinctive American culture and character. You must take BOTH of these courses to satisfy the U.S. Constitution prerequisite.
