MATH-21 INTRODUCTION TO MATHEMATICAL REASONING (CSU breadth area B4) 3 units: 3 hours lecture. Prerequisite: MATH-C. Advisory: ENGL-A. This course is for the general student. It will explore the mathematics involved in a variety of general topics from other disciplines. Rather than mere manipulations, the use of mathematics will be stressed as a tool to achieve other goals and to solve applied problems. Topics will include a history of mathematics, logic, number theory, geometry, consumer mathematics, probability, and statistics. This course is not designed for students entering elementary school teaching. (11/03)
